Is it not to share your food with the hungry, and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

See Isaiah 58:5-8

Founder:

Cindy Daugherty, a registered nurse, is the founder of Open Doors Foundation, Inc. Through a life changing illness in 2003 she was forced to leave bedside nursing. It was during the event of Hurricane Katrina that she felt compelled to put together hygiene bags for it's victims. One thing developed into another. As health has allowed her, she has done volunteer work both in Vietnam and West Africa. God has placed a deep passion within her to be an advocate for the oppressed and needy.

Activities:

Open Doors Foundation, Inc. was officially incorporated on 02/10/2011. The founder, Cindy Daugherty, has worked cooperatively with other NPOs & churches. She has been instrumental in organizing and participating in activities such as, "English Camps", women mission conferences, teaching sessions on general nutrition and hygiene, fundraising events, as well as medical and dental clinics. Open Doors is preparing to embark on building an "outreach" center in West Africa. This multi-purpose center will be used for educational, medical, and spiritual outreach. Locally, we support existing community outreach, as well as, pursuing new opportunities to serve the underprivileged and needy.

Inspiration:

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter -- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear, then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:5-8 (NIV).
